Week 4 just happened! Still on track! WOOHOOOO!! 😎😄
I can't believe my first marathon is coming up in January! All those last few years of thinking about it and knowing that I wasn't ready to commit to training for one seemed like forever ago, and now it's real and I couldn't be more excited (and nervous - let's not lie here lol!). For the marathon plan I'm following, I chose one for beginner runners who have about a year of running under their belt. While I'm not a beginner, I wanted to work more on hills, technique and speed and I feel that this plan will allow me to do that to a greater extent.
This was a (still) rainy week for the most part in Texas, but I got a little break from the rain and heat while in Cali Saturday and Sunday. 👍
Week 4 went pretty well. My miles were a little lower this time, at 19, for the week (Monday - Sunday) but I got in a great long run. With the rain there were no hills again, so I concentrated on not stopping, which goes against my specialty haha!, and therefore very little speed work, so I'll be putting that back in the workout next week.
Week 4 breakdown went like this:
Monday 10/1: Rest Day
Tuesday 10/2: 4 miles at the park. It rained again today (what's new here?), but I was able to find a break in the weather to head out to the park. The puddles, humidity and fog took over the scene today, and I sprayed on a TON of bug spray before my run, which helped big time. I feel like I ran SO fast today, and maybe that's because I was just happy, or maybe the long run did something, I'm not sure. On my last lap I saw a wild dog come out of the woods and run onto the soccer field. I wasn't too worried, but I made sure to keep my eye on him or her and in the end that dog really inspired me to kick that last part of the run, haha!
Wednesday 10/3: Rest day
Thursday 10/4: 4 miles in the park
Friday 10/5: Rest and travel day
Saturday 10/6: 4 miles in San Francisco!
Sunday 10/7: LONG RUN DAY!!! 7 miles along the Embarcadero in SF with the BF!
