"Life is a marathon, not a sprint."
~Unless you're on the track, then life is definitely a sprint.
Hi! My name is Erin and I LOVE to race BMX and run long distance races, as well as finding a good book and checking out art. I began running after graduating college. I was in a bad relationship, and running allowed me the freedom to gain clarity and think through those issues, as well as to volunteer at events and meet wonderful friends along the way- I fell in love with it. The relationship (thankfully) ended but my love for running always stuck with me.
In 2015, a long time friend and fellow BMX racer and road tripper, Kyle, passed away. It shook my world and made me realize that life is too short not to do what makes us happy. After a year of wanting to come back to the sport, and a year of being too scared to do it, I dusted off (literally) my old bike, and began racing BMX again after a 10 year hiatus.
I recently moved with my boyfriend to San Francisco, and we’ve been busy getting to know our new hometown. I currently race BMX for Daylight Cycles and love spending time with my teammates! I’m planning to restart my running journey as soon as I heal fully from a sprained foot, as well as train for ongoing BMX races (both local and national) throughout the year. I have a BA from Texas State University (Eat 'Em Up Cats!) in Communications/Marketing, and graduated Summa Cum Laude. During my time there I enjoyed volunteering at The Texas School For the Blind for their field day activities, participating in outreach beautification projects, serving food at a local homeless shelter, as well as being active in my sorority, Delta Gamma. After that, I received my MA in Organizational Communication with an emphasis in Healthcare Communication from the University of Houston. I am currently enjoying work in the marketing field.
I truly believe that while life may not go the way we all plan, hard work and perseverance will pay off. It's been a fun and interesting ride so far (pun intended). Join me on my journey, and if you have a blog let me know, because I would love to join you on yours as well!
