Week 3 (part 2) just went down!
I can't believe my first marathon is coming up in January! All those last few years of thinking about it and knowing that I wasn't ready to commit to training for one seemed like forever ago, and now it's real and I couldn't be more excited (and nervous - let's not lie here lol!). For the marathon plan I'm following, I chose one for beginner runners who have about a year of running under their belt. While I'm not a beginner, I wanted to work more on hills, technique and speed and I feel that this plan will allow me to do that to a greater extent.

This was a rainy week, but.....
Week 3 went pretty well. My miles were a little higher this time, at 21, for the week (Monday - Sunday) but I got in a great long run. With the rain there were no hills again, so I concentrated on not stopping, which goes against my specialty haha!, and therefore very little speed work, so I'll be putting that back in the workout next week. Week 3 breakdown went like this:
Monday 9/24: Rest Day
Tuesday 9/25: 3 miles at the park. It rained all day and I was SO happy to be able to skip the dreadmill again and get out to the park while there was a lull in the rain. I ran a 10 minute mile instead of making it a speed drill because I wanted to focus on not stopping, which I did, YAY!!! It's the little things that make us proud sometimes, you know? 😇
Wednesday 9/26: Rest day, and again it's raining cats and dogs, or really McLovins and Franks as Robin would say, so I did arms and core in the house.
Thursday 9/27: 2 treadmill miles at incline. I made the mistake of eating before this run so it didn't go very well. Adding in another run Friday.
Friday 9/28: 3 miles in the park, and it felt TOTALLY redeemable!!
Saturday 9/29: 4 miles on the park path, it was fun to get out there and enjoy some nature.
Sunday 10/1: LONG RUN DAY!!! 9 miles woohoo!! I was worried my knee or something would start hurting but nothing happened. I finished and felt great the rest of the day, and the day definitely included a Dairy Queen cookies n cream blizzard and a long 😴 nap. Ahhh. 😇
